About TOEFL iBT

Class Requirements
To be able to get the maximum from this class please make sure you come prepared to attend and participate. You will need the required text which is provided free of charge by Easy Learning Institution and all other necessary class equipment such as a notebook, pens, pencils, highlighters, laptop (not required but an advantage), and most importantly, ready to learn and share new things.
Class description
The 4-week TOEFL iBT Preparation Class is designed to assist candidates learn strategies, techniques, and tips to help them improve their reading, listening, speaking, and writing sores on the TOEFL iBT test. Throughout the class candidates are provided with practice tests including the opportunity to submit speaking responses and write essays.
Class structure
The purpose of this class is to help non-native English speakers practice and learn strategies and skills that will aid them to improve their TOEFL iBT (Test o English as a Foreign Language) scores. The class covers all fur sections of the test such as reading, listening, speaking, and writing, including authentic practice tests and an online center. Classes will include individual and collaborative exercises and test simulations. Homework may be assigned on particular class topics/ sections. Every assigned homework will be discussed in class, so each candidate is expected to complete it on time. Overall, this class is based on practice both in class and outside of class. Candidates are expected to practice and use all class resources outside of class to maximize their chances of getting high scores when taking the actual TOEFL iBT.

During the actual test, you are asked to perform tasks that combine more than one skill, such as:
- Read, listen and then speak in response to a question
- Listen and then speak in response to a question
- Read, listen and then write in response to a question

The following schedule is a tentative one. The schedule and topics will be adapted around students’ needs, depending entirely on their progress.

- In this class students will practice how to:
- Recognize specific types of reading and listening questions
- Identify common answer traps for each type of reading and listening question
- Take effective notes on reading and listening passages
- Understand and practice responding to each type of speaking and writing task
- Use templates to organize and effectively respond to each speaking and writing task
- Evaluate speaking and writing responses using grading checklists
- Monitor and use time effectively in all sections of the TOEFL iBT
- Improve general and specific TOEFL iBT test taking skills
- Practice answering sample reading and listening questions
- Practice responding to sample speaking and writing tasks
- Write effective essays as required in the TOEFL iBT exam
Participation
Success depends mostly on you. For you to be successful you must be dedicated. Hence, each student is expected to fully participate in this class. This class is your chance to practice your TOEFL iBT test taking techniques in an English speaking, fund, and relaxed atmosphere, so you are expected to take advantage of it. Please come prepared to lass as the preparation you do for class not only affects you, but your classmates, as well.

The practice tests included in this class replicate the look and feel of the real TOEFL iBT ®. Students will receive detailed feedback regarding their performance on each specific type of question and task.
